The Sustainability & Health Corpus is housed at the Centre for Healthcare Education (SHE), Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo. The SHE Corpus is a large suite of electronic corpora of health and health-related texts, accompanied by an open access software interface and visualization tools to support research in the fields of healthcare and medical humanities.
The SHE Corpus is designed to feature various discourses on global and public health, both mainstream and non-mainstream, allowing scholars to conduct studies on official as well as grassroots discourses. It also features both official, mainstream as well as contestatory discourses on sustainability and the sustainable development goals, in which health features prominently. An overview of the typical sources from which we draw material for the corpus is available here. The following topic areas are prioritised for coverage: Pandemics/Epidemics; Health & Environmental Sustainability; Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights; Adolescent and Young People’s Health; and Knowledge Translation.
Free, restricted access to the corpus is available to the research community at large, within the restrictions of copyright law. Specifically, researchers can run different types of search on the corpora from remote sites and download the results of analysis.
The Sustainability & Health Corpus is a partnership between the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare Education (SHE) and the Genealogies of Knowledge Research Network. As in the GoK project, the focus of research involving the SHE Corpus is on the evolution and contestation of concepts, here in the field of healthcare specifically.
